According to Chroniclelive, a burglar was apprehended after being locked inside a North Shields newsagent by the shopkeeper during an attempted break-in. The shopkeeper detected the intrusion and secured the doors, trapping the suspect inside the premises until police arrived and made an arrest.
Following the incident, the case proceeded to court. According to an article published on 31 May 2026, the accused appeared before a judge who ultimately released him from custody.
