A barbershop in Darlington, County Durham, was ransacked following a break-in in which a brick was hurled at the door, according to Northernecho. The incident resulted in a small theft of £16.50, but caused significant damage to the premises.
The burglar responsible for the raid was subsequently jailed, as reported by Northernecho in an article published on 24 July 2024. The brazen nature of the attack—smashing through the door with a brick—left the business severely disrupted.
Business owners should ensure doors and windows are reinforced with security bars or grilles, install alarm systems with door sensors, and maintain good lighting around entrances to deter break-ins.
