According to Yorkshireeveningpost, a burglar used a paving slab to smash his way into both a Wetherspoon’s pub and a Home Bargains store in Leeds. The incidents highlight the vulnerability of commercial premises to opportunistic break-ins when basic security measures are lacking.
Paving slabs and similar heavy objects remain common tools for forcing entry into retail and hospitality businesses, particularly when windows or doors lack reinforcement. Both types of premises — pubs and discount retail stores — can be attractive targets due to the cash and portable goods they typically hold.
Business owners are advised to install robust security measures, including reinforced glass, alarm systems, and adequate external lighting to deter potential burglars.
