An excavator was driven into a bank in Scarborough in what police are investigating as a ram raid attack, according to a Globalnewsca article published on 23 June 2025. The incident targeted the financial institution in the North Yorkshire town, with the excavator used to force entry into the building.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack. Ram raids—in which vehicles are deliberately driven into premises to breach security barriers and enable theft—remain a serious concern for financial institutions and high-value retailers across the United Kingdom.
Businesses should ensure they have robust physical security measures in place, including reinforced entrances, vehicle bollards, and monitored alarm systems to deter and prevent ram raid attacks.
